About This Place

Located at 125 W Torrance Blvd in Redondo Beach, The Shrimp Lover Redondo Beach is a vibrant seafood destination that masterfully blends the bold, spicy flavors of Cajun cuisine with the fragrant, aromatic notes of Thai cooking. This unique fusion restaurant offers an exciting menu that delights seafood lovers with an array of fresh, succulent dishes designed to satisfy every craving.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the plentiful selection of boiling seafood options. Picture yourself savoring perfectly cooked King Crab Legs, Snow Crab Clusters, or tender Crawfish, all available by the pound and customizable with your choice of spicy or savory sauces. The seafood is fresh to the core and meant to be enjoyed hands-on, immersing you in that authentic, messy, finger-licking experience that seafood boils are known for. Complementing these boils are classic sides like Cajun Fries and Sweet Potato Fries, which add a satisfying crunch and subtle sweetness to your feast.

Beyond the boils, The Shrimp Lover also showcases delicious Thai specialties such as Chicken Pad Thai, Tom Yum soups bursting with vibrant, zesty flavors, and Thai Fried Rice with Crab Meat that harmonizes spice and sweetness with each bite. The Fried Ocean to Go and Spicy Shrimp in Garlic Butter deliver rich, buttery indulgence, while lighter options like Shrimp Cocktail provide a refreshing contrast. Don’t miss their unique desserts, including the decadent Ice Cream Sandwich in a Macaroon, which makes a perfect, cool finish to your meal.

Dining here is an unpretentious, lively affair, where the smell of garlic butter and Cajun spices fills the air. The atmosphere is casual yet buzzing with energy—perfect for gatherings that crave bold tastes and good company. However, a few important points to note: the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis, and orders must be placed and paid for upfront before seating. Guests should also be aware of an automatic service charge that the management explains as a way to equitably share tips among staff.

Regular patrons appreciate the freshness and quality of the seafood, with many highlighting the flavorful sauces and generous portions as standout features. While some find the pre-payment system and service charge unusual, there’s no denying the genuine care put into creating a memorable meal that celebrates both Cajun zest and Thai sophistication.

If your palate craves a taste adventure – where buttery garlic shrimp mingle with spicy Cajun boils and tangy Thai soups – The Shrimp Lover Redondo Beach offers a satisfying, hands-on dining experience that leaves you with the satisfying feeling of having truly indulged in the best of both worlds.

The food is good but diners BEWARE of a service charge automatically added to your meal to "provide shared pay the workers in the restaurant" I was told by the manager (basically they TAKE their tip), in addition to food tax to your bill, hence, your bill for food "may" be high. Also, CASH ONLY and you must order and PAY FIRST before being seated. However, if one is not pleased with their food, they are accommodating. So far, I've never had a problem or complaint with my food or service.

It has been a while since I've been there before the pandemic. Before you could walk in, sit down, get your menus. Look over the menu order and pay at the end. Now you look at the menu at the door pay and then take a seat other than that. The service was okay. The waitress was friendly enough. Not too attentive. The food was delicious. We order garlic noodles with chicken, chicken pad thai, and the boil bag of head off shrimp and snow crab, 3 corns and 2 potatoes cut up we enjoyed our drinks, Chardonnay, Thai tea, orange fanta and a diet coke all that $190. The shrimp and snow crab alone was $56.99 for 1.5 lb which was 2 clawsThe place is still nice and clean. Sitting by the water was wonderful and walking along the pier.

The Baseline: For a seafood boil restaurant the seafood must be fresh, the sauces must be flavorful, the experience has to make my hands saucy, and the extra offerings must accompany the main boil. Food: The shrimp and other seafood is fresh and sold per pound. It includes the sauce choice along with the options for the add-ins such as potatoes, sausages, and corn. They offer other Thai inspired offerings such as fried rice, noodles, etc. as well as fries. It actually makes it a bit eclectic but I come here for the shrimp. I get them unpeeled with the heads on so you can snap them and then suck out the juices. It is really good for that and the sauces make them better. Service: The service is fine here but I only care about the food since I am going to get messy. My water and drinks were not left empty. Ambiance: This is a good place to eat shrimp right on the Redondo Beach pier. You can view the ocean as you chow down on some shrimp and have a beverage of choice. The bathrooms are a bit left to be desired but they have a separate wash station to clean your hands.
